Unemployment claims data will shed new light on the economy.

More evidence of the job markets recovery could emerge Thursday morning when the Labor Department reports the latest data on new claims for unemployment benefits.

The increasing pace of vaccinations combined with the easing of restrictions on business and consumer activity in many states, and the arrival of stimulus funds has helped lift hiring in recent weeks.

On Friday, the government reported that employers added 916,000 jobs in March, twice Februarys gain and the most since August. The unemployment rate dipped to 6 percent, the lowest since the pandemic began, with nearly 350,000 people rejoining the labor force.
